Start Where You Stand

Part of preparedness is learning how to triage. triage is a French word meaning to short at a time you have a mass casualty or several patients it is essential to prioritise the patients by the severity of their injury. and the the rule of thumb for triage is start

where you stand. That same philosophy can be used for getting your family prepared. It could be overwhelming if you try to do everything at one time, but if you do one day at a time… baby steps you will be surprised when you look up and see how much of accomplished without burning yourself out.

There is a phrase I learned in recovery “just for today” and after the statement “ just for today”… you could put small tasks that are achievable and when you see that you’ve accomplished those you can build from that.

Let’s try it. Just for today: I will start thinking about getting my home better prepared with 1.) Closed toe shoes

2.) Flashlight

3.) Whistle

Place these three items in a bag and hang them from your bedroom door and you’re taken your first steps of being prepared. If an event happens while you’re in bed you have closed toe shoes to protect your feet a flashlight to see in a whistle to call for help. awesome
